WINTER SOLACE – a unique concert by Soon Amore a cappella choir

Sunday 16th February 2020, 4.00pm in the Unitarian Chapel, St. Saviourgate, YO1 8NQ.

Soon Amore presents a programme of music and poetry designed to bring solace during the depths of winter. Some of our music reflects on the difficulties of life, such as war (the folk song ‘Pilgrimage’ made famous by the Melrose Quartet); and loss (‘Underneath the Stars’ by Kate Rusby, and ‘For Pi Te’, a new piece by choir member Dave Pearce). Other pieces provide responses and consolations, including Charlotte Bray’s beautiful ‘Agnus Dei’, Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Time after Time’, and gospel classic ‘People Get Ready’. There are also two new pieces by another choir member, Michael Buck, setting the thoughtful words of Rumi and Edwin Morgan. As usual with Soon Amore concerts, poetry readings will offer reflections on and connections to the music. Please do join us in the warmth of the lovely Unitarian Chapel for a unique and wonderful concert.

Tickets on the door £8 / £5 concessions. Contact Jadzia Terlecka 07809 077861 for further details.
